Pearman Personality Integrator® Certification

Certify to administer and interpret the Pearman Personality Integrator® from Multi-Health Systems (MHS). It measures personality twice: the natural pattern, and what a person actually demonstrates. The distance between the two is where the coaching conversation lives.

What the Pearman™ measures

Developed by Dr. Roger R. Pearman. Two parts, read together.

The Pearman™ Personality model

Personality on a continuum, with no forced choice between types. It measures the natural and the demonstrated use of eight mental functions: what feels most comfortable, and what a person most often does in everyday work.

The FlexIndex

Psychological flexibility, agility and resiliency across five essential elements of flexibility. It shows when adapting is working, and when it may be costly or unsustainable.

Model, eight resources and FlexIndex: MHS, storefront.mhs.com/collections/pearman, read 6 NOV 2026. Paraphrased.

The FlexIndex: five skills

The skills that let a person work well inside and outside their natural type.

The Pearman™ FlexIndex wheel: flexibility, agility and resilience at the center, surrounded by five skills. Proactivity: problem solving, taking action, decisiveness. Composure: self-control, patience, calm. Connectivity: building connections, social supports, reciprocal relationships. Variety-Seeking: novel experiences, growth, opportunity. Rejuvenation: recovery, coping, renewing activities.

Proactivity

Solving problems before they arrive.

Composure

Staying calm and level-headed under pressure.

Connectivity

Forming working connections with others.

Variety-Seeking

Seeking out new and useful experiences.

Rejuvenation

Coping with stress and recovering from it.

Scores sit on a bar that averages 100. With the Leadership Lens, a marker shows where top leaders score on each skill. MHS reports that FlexIndex scores relate to transformational leadership and to job and relationship satisfaction.

How it measures

No forced choices, so no stereotypes.

Natural and demonstrated

Every function is scored twice: how natural it feels, and how often you actually use it. The gap between the two is often where the strain is, and where coaching starts.

A continuum, not a box

People answer by sliding a marker, from Very Unnatural to Very Natural and from Never to Always, instead of choosing one type over another. That is how the Pearman™ can produce over 1,000,000 distinct profiles.

Built on Jung

It measures the eight mental functions from Carl Jung's work on psychological type, refined by Dr. Roger R. Pearman's more than 30 years of research and practice.

Two report lenses

Each has a Client report and a Coach report.

Leadership Lens

For people in leadership roles. It connects type behaviors and FlexIndex skills to four leadership competencies, authenticity, coaching, insight and innovation, and adds an Average Leadership Marker to compare results with top leaders.

Workplace Lens

For individual contributors in workplace initiatives. It shows comfort with, and demonstrated use of, the eight mental functions and the five elements of flexibility.

Report descriptions: MHS, storefront.mhs.com/collections/pearman, read 6 NOV 2026. Paraphrased.

What you work with in a debrief

A Coach report for you, a Client report for them, both customizable.

In the Coach report

  • A guide to running the feedback session
  • Follow-up questions for each function and FlexIndex skill
  • A Development Commitment Table and an Action Plan
  • Confidence intervals and item-level responses
  • Your client's results next to the norm group

Pairs with the EQ-i 2.0®

An EQ-i 2.0® module brings a client's EQ-i 2.0® results into the Pearman™ report, so personality type and emotional intelligence can be read together. The report connects a person's overall attitude and their perceiving and judging functions to specific emotional intelligence skills, which shapes development and brings blind spots into view. If you already use the EQ-i 2.0®, the Pearman™ adds what it doesn't measure: how a person is wired, and how far they can flex.

Questions before you enroll

How is the Pearman™ different from other type assessments?

MHS describes it as placing personality on a continuum instead of forcing a choice between types. It measures eight mental functions in both their natural and demonstrated use, and adds the FlexIndex for flexibility.

Which report should I use, Leadership Lens or Workplace Lens?

The Leadership Lens is for people in leadership roles and compares results with top leaders. The Workplace Lens is for individual contributors. Certification covers both.

Do I take the Pearman™ myself?

Yes. You take it and get a one-on-one debrief before the live days, so you experience it the way your clients will.

Can I combine it with the EQ-i 2.0®?

Yes. Many practitioners pair personality type with emotional intelligence. See EQ-i 2.0® & EQ 360® certification.

Are other dates available?

All sessions run 8 AM–5 PM ET. For more flexible scheduling, contact us.
